Writer’s Cramp
September 11, 2009
It sparks in the mind
with just a little flicker –
random thoughts or memories
Perhaps something of
make believe or to
make yourself believe
But it don’t matter
the thought or memory
or whatever may be lingering
Cause all that matters
is that you’d rather…
let it out than let it stay in
Because you know
when mindful weeds grow
indeed, in deed they show
So you strive to scribe
any words to describe
aching for letters to find the words
But the thoughts go numb
and so do your thumbs
a silence releasing groans
Cognitive constipation
Throbbing unwritten verse
Symptoms of the writer’s curse
After days of rest
Familiar thoughts reignite
Arousing your crave to rewrite
Wedded letters birth words
giving light to a verse
rhyming for better or worse
Releasing the tension
of your frustrated mind
past, present, future unwind
Poetry making love
toes of pages curl
a silence releasing moans
Spurting ink to the end
ending as it began,
with a story in my hands.
