Realism Glasses
April 25, 2009
I put on my realism glasses.
Rose-colored realism glasses.
You can’t see them but they do not hide.
They’re not the kind that look outside.
My realism glasses help me to see
how to restore the soul within me.
They do not justify nor understand.
They do not comfort nor make demands.
They look at me and not at you.
They just keep it real and show His TRUTH.
From all this loss and so much pain
I can learn from and have much to gain
Though outwardly I’m wasting away –
Inwardly I’m being renewed day by day
My realism glasses give me power
To learn from the past and put it away
In my pocket as a lesson learned
As moments spent, with a future to earn
So as I take a deep look at myself
I pray to God because I need His help
To hold onto strength and keep showing heart
To give more light to a world so dark
My realism glasses show peace within reach
The peace I receive with much to learn
And the peace I give with much to teach.
To everyone — don’t despair.
Don’t be jealous cuz God gave you a pair.
Do not fear if yours are broken
Do not fear, if worse, they were stolen.
For I love you too and want you to see
To have peace of mind and clarity
Just ask of me and I will give
My very own realism glasses to you
…So you can live.
